Clinically Backed Results

Neuromodulators are treatments that use FDA-cleared, naturally-derived substances to temporarily relax facial muscles. This reduces the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and prevents new ones from forming.

These rigorously tested injectables can help create a smoother, more youthful complexion. Dermatology Center of McKinney offers the following FDA-approved neuromodulators to its patients:

  • Botox
  • Dysport
  • Jeuveau
  • Xeomin
  • Daxxify

Preparing for Treatment

Ensure a safe and satisfactory injection session by following these guidelines before treatment. As a reminder, neuromodulators are NOT recommended for patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and vitamin E for 1 week pre-injection to decrease your risk for bruising.
  • Arrive for your treatment with a cleansed, makeup-free face.
  • Inform our injector about any allergies you have at your preliminary consultation.

Post-Treatment Care

Patients can expect redness, bruising, swelling, tenderness, and/or mild stinging after the procedure. This usually resolves itself in 15 to 30 minutes.

  • Avoid massages, facials, and upside down yoga-style exercises for 4 hours after the procedure.
  • Exercise the injection area for 1 hour post-treatment (frowning, eyebrow raising, squinting) for the neuromodulator to fully absorb into the muscle.
  • Take Tylenol if you experience discomfort after the procedure.

What to Expect From Your Appointment

During neuromodulator consultations, patients talk with their injector to discuss their aesthetic goals and medical history.

The treatment session is quick and straightforward. After cleansing the target area, Dr. Ralston or another member of his team will inject the pre-specified neuromodulator directly into the patient’s treatment area. The entire process typically takes less than 15 minutes. The patient might feel a slight pinch during the injection, but discomfort is often quite minimal.

After treatment with Botox in McKinney patients can immediately resume their normal activities. Dr. Ralston will provide patients with a list of aftercare instructions to follow and help them determine when they should schedule their next appointment.
